Am I a Candidate for Bariatric Surgery?

While bariatric surgery helps individuals with weight loss, it is important to understand that the procedure is not for everyone. You may qualify as a candidate for the Covenant Bariatric and Metabolic Center if you:

  • Are 80 to 100 pounds over your ideal weight
  • Have a history of obesity, and non-surgical methods have failed
  • Have high-risk health problems (for example: diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure)
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40 or 35-39.9 with a co-morbid condition.*

Our comprehensive approach to treatment leads to successful weight loss. These extraordinary services include:

  • Medical Evaluation – Works with a patient's primary doctor for weight management
  • Exercise and Therapy – Supervised program of exercise before and after surgery
  • Nutrition Counseling – Monitors proper intake of foods, liquids and vitamins
  • Outpatient Pharmacy - for all your medication and supplement needs
  • Psychological Assessment - ensures the patient's well-being before undergoing treatment
  • Sleep Center - sleep apnea can often be alleviated with surgery
  • Surgical Consultations - surgeons conduct physical exams and evaluations prior to surgery

*Co-morbid conditions include:
Asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, deep venous thrombosis, depression, female reproductive disorders, gallbladder disease, gastroesophageal reflex, heartburn, high cholesterol, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obstructive sleep apnea, osteoarthritis and joint pain, stress, urinary incontinence and Type II diabetes.
