Extraordinary Safety Measures

Covenant HealthCare is taking extraordinary measures to ensure your safety at our five MedExpress locations which are open for you, seven days a week.

To protect our patients, the following safety precautions have been put in place:

Screening of all guests. Before anyone is allowed into any of our urgent care centers, they are asked a series of screening questions related to COVID-19 symptoms, possible exposure, etc.

Masks for all guests and staff. Anyone that enters one of our urgent care centers will be required to wear a disposable, ear-loop mask. If you do not have one available, we will provide one for you. All Covenant doctors and staff members wear masks, too.

Safe waiting-room options. If there is a wait before an exam room is available, you have three safe options:

  • Wait in our socially distanced waiting rooms: In our MedExpress locations, we have removed some seating from the waiting rooms so that the remaining seats are safely distanced.
  • Wait in your car: If you prefer, after your screening you may wait in your car and we will text you when your room is ready.

Continuous disinfection. All rooms in our urgent care locations are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a bleach solution between patients and throughout the day.

Visitor restrictions. We strongly encourage patients to come alone to urgent care if it is at all possible. If you are not feeling well enough to come in alone, you may bring one healthy visitor with you. Children may be accompanied by one healthy parent. All visitors will be screened at the entrance and must wear a disposable, ear-loop mask.

Urgent care is not only a valuable healthcare option for non-emergencies like ear infections, sprains or allergic reactions, it’s a great first step if you’re unsure whether you need emergency care. Our urgent care staff will evaluate your injury or illness, then either treat you or call ahead to the Covenant Emergency Care Center for you.

NOTE: If you are experiencing possible symptoms of COVID-19, please call your doctor or our COVID-19 hotline (989.583.3135) BEFORE coming to any urgent care location. Your doctor or our hotline staff will give you instructions based on your symptoms and level of exposure. (For more information, see our COVID-19 FAQ page.)

Family Physician Office
MedExpress works with your personal physician. A complete report of your visit will be sent directly to your primary care physician within 24 hours of your visit. If you do not already have a primary care physician, we can help you locate one that's convenient for you. Or click here to Find a Physician.

Billing
MedExpress is a lower-cost alternative to an emergency room visit. We accept most insurance plans. See University Health Center information for UHC/student billing.
