Students Invited to Explore Careers at Covenant

Covenant HealthCare is proud to be an "Explorer Post" through the Boy Scouts of America with the mission of exposing students to careers in health care related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The program is open to all students between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. There will be six sessions on Monday nights from 4:30pm to 6:00pm roughly every other week from February through April. Each week has a different focus of health care for students to explore. The sessions are meant to be hands-on, interactive and educational.

Parents and students are welcome to sign up for the program and learn more Thursday, January 21 between 5:00pm and 6:00pm at Covenant Cooper (Entrance A at 700 Cooper, Saginaw, MI in the Executive Doud Conference Room). The cost is just $5 per student thanks to the Covenant HealthCare Foundation. The program is limited to the first 40 students who register.

Sessions start February 1; tentative topics include:

  • Emergency Care: LifeNet, MMR, and CPR Training from Pulse3 Foundation
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • What It Takes to Be a Physician: CMU College of Medicine and Simulation Lab
  • Pediatric Care
  • Cancer Care
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Surgical Services: In the operating room - Robotic Surgery and Anesthesia

“With the medical field being so vast, Covenant is excited to help expose students to career opportunities they might not otherwise be aware of,” says Kristin Knoll, Public Relations Coordinator at Covenant. “We look forward to helping the next generation of medical professionals choose their path.”

This program is open to all students; need not be in Boy Scouts to participate. Attendance at the informational night is not required, however, registration and pre-work must be submitted before the program starts February 1.
