2024 Pediatric Symposium: Building Bright Beginnings

Program Description: This program offers up-to-date research and care guidelines for complex newborns both in the acute and primary care settings, play therapy and implicit bias.

Target Audience: Physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals involved in the care of pediatric patients.

Program Objectives:

• Explain one change in neonatal medicine and how it has impacted our ability to care for earlier generations.
• Identify one essential component of an infant nutrition assessment.
• Identify one deficit that may indicate a need for therapy referral in infants less than six months of age.
• Describe one way to support a parent caring for a medically complex newborn.
• Describe the importance of play on child development, social skills, and emotional regulation.
• Explain the neuroscience of implicit bias.
