Dr. and staff listen to me, they care & are genuinely concerned about me.  If I thought they didn't, I wouldn't continue to put my health in his hands and be his patient.

The provider made no effort to listen to any of my concerns or issues, regardless of the information I was trying to inform him of on several visits including this one. He made no effort to listen, talked over me and continuously cut me off with egotistical expressions such as "I'm the neurologist" and ended the visit with slamming his laptop shut and storming out of the room, dropping me as a patient for asking questions in relevance to the information I wanted to discuss, after he exclaimed that he has "zero idea what is causing my migraines". He also failed to refill or give any weaning instructions to the medication he had previously prescribed to me prior to him storming out of the room (per the FDA, the medication I was prescribed should under no circumstances be stopped abruptly as it can cause "uncontrollable seizures that cannot be stopped). He failed to listen to any of my concerns, research my concerns to be knowledgeable prior to my visit based off discussions from previous appointments, failed to communicate amongst colleagues about the concerns and information that was provided to me from those colleagues, and just all around did not show any interest in caring. His only concern was for writing prescriptions for medications, and when he could not perform a medication procedure such as injections in his office, he also refused to make a referral even though he agreed that this was the treatment needed.

Many people do not have an understanding of their bodies, their disorders or even how their medications affect the large picture of your condition(s). I however do have an understanding, obviously not as deep of knowledge as a doctor... but I know questions to ask, I know what information my other doctors and specialists are requesting and why they are requesting that information. So therefore I ask those questions because as he is a neurologist responsible for my brain and my migraines, I am responsible to myself to make sure my treatments work within the treatments the rest of my body is receiving. So do not talk over me and my husband at every question or piece of information I give. Do. Not tell me that my very credentialed ear specialist in Farmington Hills doesn't know what he is doing and I should find a new doctor. He isn't your "run of the mill' ENT as was implied, he is the doctor my local ENT sent me to when the case was too complex for their office. Anyway, I digress. I am a partner in my care and while I don't put myself on the same knowledge level as a doctor, I deserve to have my concerns heard and I deserve an adequate level of respect.Dr. Beltran truly used to be a wonderful doctor. The last year has been horrible though. Difficult to get appointments, answers to questions aren't  given, and worse sometimes you have to request a prescription refill for days, even after during that time of begging for a refill you ran out of the medication completely.
