Next Saturday Great Lakes Harley-Davidson Carries on Teddy Bear Ride Tradition for Covenant Kids

The Teddy Bear Ride offers an opportunity for local bikers to brighten the day of local kids in the Covenant HealthCare Pediatric Unit. Great Lakes Harley-Davidson & Buell in Bay City along with the Tri-County Michigan Harley Owners Group Chapter 2250 continues the Teddy Bear Ride tradition. The 13th annual Teddy Bear Ride for Covenant Kids will be held Saturday, Aug. 4th.

Donations of new teddy bears are encouraged and can be dropped off now through the day of the event at Great Lakes Harley Davidson & Buell (3850 South Huron Road in Bay City). Stuffed animals are used throughout the year to comfort children who are hospitalized at Covenant, the region’s only Level II Verified Pediatric Trauma Center complemented by a regional Pediatric Unit and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Registration to ride will begin August 4 (the day of) at Great Lakes Harley-Davidson & Buell between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Bikers and bears will leave Bay City at 3:00pm and arrive at Covenant HealthCare (1447 N. Harrison, Saginaw, MI 48602) just before 4:00pm.

Once at Covenant, the bikers are welcomed and bears are collected. A small group of bikers are then selected to personally deliver stuffed animals to the children. Those who stay outside are able to further participate in the delivery though a two-way video with the Pediatric Unit. This will allow the bikers to see their impact, and the children to see the support.

Each year, the event draws well over 100 bikes.

People who cannot make the event but wish to participate are encouraged to donate new teddy bears and other stuffed animals at Great Lakes Harley-Davison & Buell located at 3850 South Huron Road in Bay City, Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00pm.
