Stroke Rehabilitation

A stroke can be a life-changing event, and rehabilitation is an important part of recovery. Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare has a team of experts who specialize in stroke rehabilitation and will help you restore your independence.

Our Stroke Program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 2008, includes support and education to identify and reduce the risk of a recurrent stroke.

What We Provide

Our multidisciplinary team of experienced rehabilitation nurses and therapists works with you to develop an individualized plan of care to help you recover and maximize your potential. That means a focus on:

  • Rehabilitation to improve communication, self-care, mobility, psychosocial adjustment and well-being
  • Education and prevention for you and your family or caregiver
  • Community re-integration and participation in everyday activities
  • Discharge planning for a successful return home

Your therapy may include specialized equipment to enhance treatment:

  • Bioness® hand and foot rehabilitation systems
  • Dynavision visual motor training system
  • LiteGait® gait training and posture control
  • Lokomat robot-assisted walking technology

Education and Support Groups

  • Interdisciplinary stroke education for you and your family
  • Stroke support group
    • Meetings are 3-4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month (Fourth floor, Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare). The public is welcome.
