Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is a program of professional education for ministry designed for clergy, faith group leaders, pastors, seminary/theological students, prospective chaplains, and committed lay people to develop their competence and effectiveness in providing pastoral/spiritual care. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and enhance one's personal pastoral identity.

CPE students serve as chaplains while learning from their experiences in a wide variety of clinical areas. By utilizing the clinical methods of learning, participants engage in direct pastoral/spiritual care with patients, families/loved ones, and staff. Students learn by reflecting on their experiences and applying what they learn in their ongoing ministry.

Covenant HealthCare is a licensed 650-bed healthcare facility. The program offers opportunities for students to engage their pastoral care and education in clinical areas such as cardiology, medical/surgical, rehabilitation, geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, birth center, oncology, dialysis, palliative care, and hospice.

Located in Saginaw, Michigan, near Midland and Bay City. The Tri-Cities offer a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities, including water sports, theaters, museums, art galleries, symphony orchestras, and many festivals and fairs.
