Am I a Candidate for Bariatric Surgery?
While bariatric surgery helps individuals with weight loss, it is important to understand that the procedure is not for everyone. You may qualify as a candidate for the Covenant Bariatric and Metabolic Center if you:
- Are 80 to 100 pounds over your ideal weight
- Have a history of obesity, and non-surgical methods have failed
- Have high-risk health problems (for example: diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure)
- Have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40 or 35-39.9 with a co-morbid condition.* (Adults 18 or over)
- Have a BMI greater or equal to 35 or 120% of the 95th percentile for age and sex, whichever is lower (Adolescents)
- Have a BMI greater than or equal to 40 or 140% of the 95th percentile for age and sex, whichever is lower (Adolescents)
