Program Description:
Advances in diagnosis and management of breast cancer are occurring rapidly. New knowledge in genetics, molecular biology, as well as targeted and radiation therapy, have allowed for better outcomes and potentially lower incidences. Due to advancements, breast cancer is no longer the number one cause of mortality in women. The Covenant Cancer Care Center Third Annual Symposium, “Advances in Oncology: Focus on Breast Cancer” will bring together national and regional clinicians to discuss the latest information on breast cancer treatment. This includes the role of genetic panel testing, appropriate imaging in high risk women, the psychosocial issues affecting young women, breast reconstruction in the radiated breast, radiation implications, and surgical consideration in patients receiving neo-adjuvant therapy.
