Level II Trauma Center for Adults and Pediatrics

Covenant HealthCare is verified as a Level II Trauma Center for Adults and Pediatrics by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

To achieve ACS verification Covenant HealthCare has demonstrated high trauma care standards by meeting strict guidelines regarding care of the seriously injured.  This includes having a well-coordinated trauma team, continuous quality improvement efforts, a medical review process, a trauma registry, medical staff in multiple specialties, regional EMS providers and administrative staff support, among others.

Continuum of care for our injured patients

Highly skilled nurses, physicians and multi-specialty care comprise the Level II Trauma Center at Covenant HealthCare.  We are readily available to meet your needs and those of your loved ones.  We have three designated trauma rooms which are fully equipped to handle traumatic injuries.  All of our Emergency Care Center Physicians are Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. The ECC nursing staff  are certified in trauma and pediatrics.  Our Trauma Surgeons are Board Certified as well as our specialty physicians in Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, Maxillofacial and Cardiovascular surgery.

From the emergency room the injured patients is transitioned to specified areas within the hospital that are specialized to care for the injured patient whether it is an adult or pediatric patient.

We have a 10 bed dedicated Neuro-Trauma ICU with skilled nursing staff and a multidisciplinary approach to the care of the patient.  Many other departments participate in the care of these patients to address the unique needs of each patient.

Multidisciplinary approach to care of the injured patient

The Trauma Program conducts weekly multidisciplinary rounds for both adults and pediatrics.  Daily rounds are done on all trauma patients and care is coordinated between the different departments.  The patients are followed during the entire continuum of care, from the time they arrive until the time they are discharged.

Injury prevention and trauma awareness

The Covenant Injury Prevention Program, or CIPP, is a service of the Trauma Program.  These programs are offered free of charge and are age specific in regards to the mechanism of injury most common for each age group.  Programs are specifically designed to address the injury prevention tools needed to try to decrease the incidence of injuries occurring.
