Visiting Nurse Special Services (VNSS) has been serving families throughout Saginaw, Bay, and Tuscola counties since 1989.  As a local, non-profit organization, our main goal is to serve out communities with practical solutions for individuals and families requiring in-home assistance with personal health care and laboratory needs.  VNSS Staff consists of caring and conscientious home health aides and skilled laboratory professionals.  Our experts will visit you in your home, assisted living, or nursing care facility.

HEALTH & PREVENTION PROGRAMS

VNSS offer flu and pneumonia vaccines every fall.  Call 989.797.0828 to make an appointment.  Seniors with Blue Care Network's Medicare Program, your plan requires that you receive your shots from your doctor in order for Medicare to pay for your vaccination.   Please contact your doctor.  The flu vaccine is $30.  The pneumonia vaccine is $38. 

We can deliver information to your doorstep.  We have health-care experts available to speak at events, hold affect everyone in our community.

Flu and pneumonia immunization, informational seminars, or participate in health fairs.  Part of VNSS' mission is to promote awareness of health issues that ation clinics are held in the fall with the help of local churches, businesses, and community organizations.

Throughout the year, VNSS offers prevention clinics focued on osteoporosis, diabetes, and cholesterol. 

Immunization clinics for college-bound students are held in the spring and summer.  College students are at high risk for Meingococcal Meningitis, a bacterial infection that can cause swelling of the brain and spinal cord.  The symptoms often are mistake for the common cold or flu.  Because of this, it often goes untreated and can result in permanent brain damage, hearing loss, limb amputation, or even death.

Private Duty In-Home Assistance

Do you know anyone who needs help caring for a spouse?  Do you know people who are experiencing role reverse -- children now taking care of Mom and Dad?  Do you need someone to be with a friend or family member when they get up in the morning or go to bed at night, times when it's difficult for you to be there? VNSS can help.  Whether VNSS visits for three hours or thirty-three hours, we are committed to serving those in need of home care solutions.  OurHome Health Aides can help...

• Personal care such as bathing, getting to the restroom, or catheter maintenance
• Respite care, giving the primary caregiver a break to run errands, keep appointments, or socialize

LAB DRAW PROGRAMS

In our Assisted Living Lab Draw Program, our skilled technician comes right to the resident's door, so there is no need to leave home.  Have family and friends visit worry-free of getting Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa to the lab for doctor-ordered tests.

In our Home Lab Draw Program, we send phlebotomists to the home of anyone experiencing mobility problems to have blood drawn in the comfort of their own living room.  Afterward, our technicians take the sample to a Covenant Laboratory.

LIFELINE PROGRAM

VNSS offers the Lifeline Personal Emergency Response System at a competitive price.  At the push of a button, Lifeline subscribers contact a 24-hour call center.  At the call center, professional responders assess the situation in the subscriber's home, then call a relative, neighbor, friend or 9-1-1, depending upon what is needed.
