Trauma Care

Covenant HealthCare is the region’s only Level II Trauma Center for Adults and Pediatrics.

Covenant HealthCare is verified as a Level II Trauma Center for Adults and Pediatrics by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

To achieve ACS verification, Covenant HealthCare has demonstrated high trauma care standards by meeting strict guidelines regarding care of the seriously injured. This includes having a well-coordinated trauma team, continuous quality improvement efforts, a medical review process, a trauma registry, injury prevention initiatives, medical staff in multiple specialties, regional EMS providers and administrative staff support, among others.

PATIENT CARE

The Emergency Care Center and in-patient units are all part of the Covenant HealthCare Level II Trauma Center. Our goal is to provide care to the injured patient from the initial injury through the recovery period.

All Emergency Care Center physicians at Covenant are board certified in Emergency Medicine and the nurses are certified in trauma and pediatrics. Covenant trauma surgeons and specialty physicians are board certified in neurosurgery, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, maxillofacial and cardiovascular surgery.

The Covenant Trauma Program takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The team approach to care ensures that Covenant patients are supported throughout their journey to recovery.
