Inpatient Medical Oncology

The adult inpatient unit for medical oncology and hematology patients within Covenant HealthCare is located on 7 Main at the Harrison Campus.  A total of 26 beds are available, including nine semi-private patient rooms.  Our unit also includes eight private rooms, and four of them have been newly renovated to a comfortable home-like feeling.  There are also eight portable, cardiac telemetry transmitters available to enable continuous patient monitoring.

The registered nurses on the unit are chemotherapy certified and have special expertise in caring for cancer patients, with a strong focus on patient-family education.  The 7 Main team is multidisciplinary, including physicians, nursing staff, social work, nutrition services, physical/occupational and speech therapy, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, pastoral care, case coordination and discharge planning.  The team on this unit strives to provide patients and their families with the highest quality care and excellent customer service.  This commitment to patient-family satisfaction is evidenced by the consistent ranking of 7 Main as one of the top units according to the Covenant HealthCare Press Ganey Patient Services inpatient survey results.  The inpatient medical oncology unit fosters a welcoming, caring and compassionate environment with their cancer patients and families as they progress through their cycles of treatment and disease process.
