Industrial Medicine

Industrial medicine rehabilitation at Covenant HealthCare includes evaluation, prevention and treatment of work-related injuries by our specially trained Occupational Therapists. Our goal is functional restoration and return to work for each of our patients.

Our therapists help injured workers return quickly and safely to their jobs after a trauma or accident has occurred. They address physical barriers, early return to work and job modifications.

Occupational therapy, using real and simulated activities, is focused on functional restoration and return to work for individuals who are injured in work-related accidents.

Treatment is based on the specific demands of the worker and his or her job and includes assessment of critical physical barriers, early return to work, job modifications and proper lifting techniques.

Simulated work activities are often used during graded conditioning tasks to progressively improve the injured worker's biomechanical, neuromuscular, cardiovascular and psycho-social functions. Individuals who receive this therapy can return to work with minimized risk and optimal work capability.

Occupational therapy helps workers of all ages who have physical limitations or restrictions, such as:

• Physical or behavioral tolerances that do not allow return to former position at full-time performance
• Limitations requiring medications and/or reasonable accommodation to return to the same job class or industry
• Individuals seeking to re-enter the job market and requiring assistance in overcoming physical and behavioral barriers
• The need to document individuals' physical capabilities to perform specific job demands
