This presentation will offer attendees a basic introduction to the principles of applied behavior analysis and its use with individuals with autism spectrum disorder. An overview of autism spectrum disorder will be included — including initial diagnosis, symptomatology, behavior and treatment options. The history of the science of applied behavior analysis and its use in the treatment of individuals with autism will also be reviewed. Additionally, the presentation will offer the attendee information on the practical use of the principles of applied behavior analytic intervention with children and adults with autism in clinical and home settings. Ms. Sinclair and Mr. Haycook are employed at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Autism Development Solutions in Cleveland, Ohio. Both presenters have a combined 50 plus years of experience working with individuals with autism in applied behavior analytic treatment designs.
