Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy, an alternative to land-based therapy, uses the physical properties of water to assist in healing patients and enhancing their exercise abilities. This therapy is helpful for a number of conditions, including neurological and orthopedic problems.
Benefits of aquatic therapy include:
-
Decreased stress on joints, which allows for earlier movement with reduced pain, as well as increased movement in those not tolerating traditional exercise (out of water)
-
Improved balance and coordination
-
An environment for relaxation and reduction of pain
