Posted Date: 4/16/2013
Thursday, May 2 from 5-7:30 pm at the Covenant Cancer Center, 5400 Mackinaw.
An estimated 76,690 men and women in the United States will be diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer this year.* Are you at risk?
Your skin type is one of the major factors in your risk for skin cancer. Certain types of skin are at greater risk for developing sun damage and skin cancer. Which type are you?
Type I: You burn and never tan in the sun.
Type II: You almost always burn and rarely tan.
Type III: You sometimes burn and sometimes tan.
Type IV: You tend to tan easily and are less likely to burn.
Type V: You tan easily and rarely burn.
Type VI: Although you do not burn, dark skinned people are still at risk for skin cancer.
Everyone should check their skin regularly for suspicious moles and growths. And those with skin types I-III should have an annual skin check up with a professional.
